DISCUSSION:

Rampant development as regards to renewable sources of electric power, as well as increase of their share in the energy balance of countries results in new challenges that the power systems have to deal with. Traditional power systems aren’t intended for integration of major generation shares with variable generation. Thanks to digital technologies, operation of RES facilities can be enhanced and contribute to higher efficiency and reliability of power systems.

One more area of focus when it comes to digital solutions for RES is management of configuration and operation modes for local smart grids, or microgrids. As a rule, a microgrid is about generation based on renewable energy sources, storage systems, and the electricity grids. Operation modes of such systems are automatically balanced by means of controllers and integrated software plus Machine Learning technologies.

What’s more, digital technologies associated with RES are used to replace schedules and prevention repairs with predicative equipment maintenance. Analytical systems use their integrated algorithms to compare the actual technical condition of equipment with the reference model and check if there are any discrepancies. In case the discrepancies are discovered, it is a sign that something is wrong with the equipment.

These and other topics related to use of digital solutions for RES will be discussed by participants of the session. Besides, they will share their experience of such systems introduction and operation.

Top officials of the industry and regulation bodies, as well as major industrial enterprises that use electricity are invited to take part in the discussion along with industrial experts.
