DISCUSSION:
The energy system in new regions of Russia is organically associated with development of the energy sector and the manufacturing industry of the entire country. At the same time, today the condition of generating facilities and electric grids can’t be referred as satisfactory. At the moment, there is an essential need for large-scale construction works and recovery of the energy infrastructure. The Russian Ministry of Energy is developing its plans to restore the electric grid complex and to perform major overhaul and to upgrade generation sites. Moreover, these plans include construction and reconstruction of gas facilities as part of the social gasification program. According to Sergei Tsivilev, Minister of Energy, “About 17 bln Rubles will be allocated from Russia’s budget for recovery and reconstruction of distributing facilities and formation of emergency backup infrastructure in the Donbass and Novorossiya regions.”
An extensive scope of works is designed in the electric grids. In the first place, it is about upgrade of the main assets. In 2025 through 2026, up to 10 bln Rubles from Russia’s funds will be provided for these purposes under the program of social and economic development for the new regions. Regional energy companies plan to invest about 10 bln Rubles for renovation by 2029. During the round table discussion, they are going to talk about recovery prospects in regard of energy economy in the new regions, about their comprehensive integration into the energy system of Russia, as well as about expansion to a whole new level thanks to the opportunities offered by both the state and the business community. The purpose of this meeting is to ensure good communication between representatives of Russian businesses and local authorities, to help the business community realize that they have a chance to make a meaningful contribution to recovery and further development of the fuel and energy sector in the new regions.
